Salt Water Blood

Eighteen-year-old islander Moe hears the sea’s prophetic thoughts. That’s how she knew her father would drown, and her mother would hop on a ferry, abandoning her and her younger brother Tao. She knew, and still failed to keep her family together. So when the ocean warns her that Tao will drown like their dad, Moe makes plans to save him by taking them both to Paris, away from the sea.

After months of efforts, Moe has saved enough money to relocate them and free herself from her cursed connection with the sea. But before they can leave, Tao’s girlfriend goes missing. He’s found where she was last seen, with blood on his T-shirt.

And he doesn’t remember what happened.

As search parties come up empty-handed, the police suspect Tao of abduction and forbid him to leave the island. Moe teams up with her school rival, Temanea—who’d rather play detective than work at his parents’ shop—to clear her brother’s name. But between the incriminating evidence against Tao piling up and her confusing crush on Temanea, Moe realizes her brother is being framed. And when his girlfriend turns up dead and the sea tells Moe that she’s next, her dreaded gift might be the only way to stop the killer.
