Socks & Secret Quests

The fabled and mystical Shopkeepers supply vital weapons and gear to all of the questing heroes across the Fourteen Kingdoms, their shops fading in and out and appearing exactly where they’re needed. So when 11-year-old Peri is chosen as the first shop apprentice in over a decade, she’s honored and delighted. Really she is. And okay, her “great magical potential” has failed to materialize, which means her only meaningful contribution is knitting warm hats and mittens… but hey, heroes need to be warm on their quests just as much as they need enchanted swords and seven-league boots, right?
 

 
But then an evil wizard kidnaps Peri’s mentor, the Master Shopkeeper, intending to use her magic to create an unstoppable army of dark creatures. Peri signed up for hero support, not hero-ing, but there’s no one else. She convinces a young and inexperienced team of heroes to join her, and together they embark on a completely unauthorized—and totally dangerous—quest to rescue Peri’s master.
 

 
In between breaking up fights between her cranky team members, hiking through treacherous terrain, and battling dragons, Peri’s astonished to discover that the items she’s knitting seem to be behaving like magical artifacts. Maybe she isn’t so powerless after all. And when her team is captured by the evil wizard, she’ll have to draw on every bit of her skills and courage to realize her full hero support potential and save the day.
