Black Widow, White Shroud
Twenty-three-year-old Hidaya thought studying in America would provide her with the safety that was never guaranteed growing up in occupied Palestine. She never thought she would find herself up against the FBI.
Hidaya is happily married, in her last year of college, but most importantly, she’s safe. Having left behind her family and sorrows in Palestine, Hidaya dreams of becoming a US citizen and starting a family. But the world she strove to create shatters when Hidaya notices her husband receiving texts from another woman.
When their heated argument leads her husband to pull a gun and a confession of being an FBI informant spying on her campus, Hidaya reacts—by stabbing a knife into his back. With her degree unfinished and her immigration status precarious, Hidaya enlists her best friend, Layyan, and Layyan’s brother, Ahmed, to help her cover up her husband’s death. After all, who would believe she acted in self-defense when the law is set up against her?
