The Demon Star
Jacen was once the most gifted exorcist of his generation, a high-ranked priest in the Church that rules his desert city-state. He’s now a disgraced addict, and what remains of his faith is shattered when he stumbles upon the skull of a dead god—and a conspiracy to kill them all.
Ysira was sacrificed to the gods, and survived only thanks to the forbidden power of the parasitic demon in her brainstem. Bitter and self-sufficient, she wants little to do with Jacen. Until she learns that her estranged son has been chosen to become the vessel of a god-killing demon.
Thrust into a conflict that spans beyond the stars, Jacen and Ysira form a reluctant partnership, poised to save their world—or conquer it.

About the Author
Jesse Aragon is an epic SFF writer who loves deconstructed tropes, morally complicated protagonists, and stories that dive deep into religion, trauma, and mental illness. She grew up overseas, and “home” for her is everywhere from Brussels, Belgium to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has been an ER tech, an EMT-I, and most recently an RN/BSN. Her jobs have consistently been much stranger than any fiction she writes. She currently resides in St. Louis with her cat.
Jesse is represented by John Baker and Julie Gourinchas at Bell Lomax Moreton Agency.
